ACS METHODIST IPOH REVISITED

26TH AUGUST 2023 ~ After 30 years, I came back to the school where I did my practical teaching from March to May 1993. I was sent to ACS Methodist School in Ipoh when I was doing my B. Ed. TESL course in Universiti Pertanian Malaysia [UPM], an all boys' school which was then located just beside the Ipoh Bus Station known as Medan Kidd.

Founded in 1895, ACS Methodist Ipoh should now be 128 years old. This was a missionary school that was built when we were still under the British occupation. The buildings made you feel like you were visiting a school in England.

I met a teacher of the school that Saturday morning and we had a small chat.

I was actually accompanied by Mr. Radin Mohd. Hafiz, an ex-student of SMK Taman Universiti, who is currently working and staying in Ipoh.

The surrounding area sure had changed a lot, and the Medan Kidd Bus Station was not the spot where it used to be. This time I saw the school's architecture was more impressive, something that I did not observe when I was teaching there back in 1993.

It was nostalgic to get back to the place where I started my career as a teacher in a real school. I just hope I would be able to meet ex-students whom I taught when they were in Form One back then. I guess they must be 44 years old already.

A 3-DAY MELAKA GETAWAY

24-26th AUGUST 2015 ~ A 3-day course for Johor Bahru district Senior Assistants of Students' Affairs (PK HEM) was held in Avallion Legacy Hotel, Melaka. The participants could simply on board of an express bus specially chartered to take us straight to the hotel from PPD Johor Bahru, and later took us back.

\

There were some new things learned and some old things being repeated and emphasized. However, with a good hotel with good food, there was nothing I could complain.

And I managed to explore a bit of Melaka historical city on my second day stay there. :)
Will post about that later.

We are having the sequel to the training we had last Monday, but this time at district level. I am not presenting and only observing so I can update my blog live from the seminar room. I am quite sure we will go off earlier today.

AND THE TRAINING CONTINUED - AT DISTRICT LEVEL

After being trained at state level, we then had to train other English teachers at district level. The session for Johor Bahru district was held at SK Temenggong Abdul Rahman 1 (STAR1) for two days.

This was just only the beginning. There are more to come. *sigh*

ATTENDING A 2-DAY TRAINING SESSION

I went to attend a training session for English teachers at SMK Taman Nusa Damai, Pasir Gudang, for state level. It was good to get to meet old friends and make new ones too.

The training will continue tomorrow.

Just hope we will be released earlier. :)

THE SECOND IN-SERVICE TRAINING SESSION FOR TEACHERS THIS YEAR

5th April 2014 ~ The second in-service training for the academic staff of SMK Taman Universiti was held today at our favourite spot, CTL Lecture Hall in Universiti Teknologi Malaysia.

The topic chosen for today's half a day course was Malaysia Education Blueprint 2013-2025 ["Pelan Pembangunan Pendidikan Malaysia"]. The guest speaker was Dr. Hayati Ismail from PADU and she is also my ex-coursemate from Universiti Pertanian Malaysia.

I must say the session was a very successful one. Not only the participants understood the topic better but they also enjoyed the presentation which was lively and humourous throughout.

Thanks a lot to Dr. Hayati who had come all the way from KL to impart and share the knowledge. And I am sure you will be remembered by my friends here.
