THE 26TH DAY OF EID 1447H

The one must-visit house for Eid would be of Puan Aliah Hussein's house located in Taman Pulai Perdana. She is an ex-colleague of SMK Taman Universiti. Luckily I still managed to visit her towards the end of Eid month, just a few days before the last day.

She had taken the trouble to prepare special food for the visit: Ketupat, Lodeh, Chicken Rendang and two types of sweet dessert.

Before I left, another ex-colleague, Puan Hashazah Hashim arrived. Too bad I could not stay to join the gossip session as I had another appointment with a friend right after.

Three more days to go for us to celebrate Eid.

A FAREWELL DINNER FOR [MALE] FRIENDS GOING AWAY TO OTHER SCHOOLS

15th AUGUST 2023     ~ Some male friends of SMK Taman Universiti, of the present and the past, gathered for dinner at Kedai Tomyan Ainoni in Pulai Perdana. The gathering was organized to bid farewell to three people who went away to other schools. They are: Mr. Mohd. Rifqi Mydin who is now in his hometown in Kelantan, Mr. Wee was transferred to SMK Damai Jaya while Mr. Abdul Rashid Lip was sent to SMK Mutiara Rini.

As usual, after dinner there was the speech-giving session for those who left the school and followed by the handing over of farewell presents.

More and more friends are leaving SMK Taman Universiti but hopefully we could at least see each other again in gathering like this.

As fora few, the dinner session extended to supper gathering past midnight at one Mamak restaurant in Taman Teratai. Then only I realized, I had not been staying up and spending my time outside this late for such a long time. Luckily it was not a school day the next day for us.

MEETING THREE EX-STUDENTS OVER DINNER

The place was once known as Ehjong but now a new restaurant has replaced this restaurant with the name Kawd. It has to be pronounced as "caught" but I think it should be spelled as "Kowd" instead. This was the venue chosen to meet three ex-students of SMK Taman Universiti [SPM batch 2017]: Mr. Ibadurrahman Abd. Syukor, Mr. Wan Muhammad Faiz and Mr. Germaine Liew. I left these people when they were in form two as I was transferred to another school, but they are already now grown up but their faces remained they way they looked when they were still 14.

Despite the fact that the food was a bit overpriced, the place was jam-packed with diners. Food was alright. Honestly speaking, western food was western food and it tasted almost the same.

It was just a short dinner gathering, trying to update of each other's development and I hope we could this more often in the future. Someone has already promised to give a treat when he receives his first pay so let's see whether that is going to happen or not. 😀

MORE FRIENDS ARE OPTING FOR EARLY RETIREMENT

Two more friends among the English teachers of SMK Taman Universiti are opting for earlier retirement. Puan Aliah Hussein was kind enough to throw a farewell gathering for Puan Tini Zainuddin and Miss Lee Kiaw Moi at her house in Taman Pulai Perdana.

A few friends could not make it this time as we are in the midst of school holiday. They might be holidaying somewhere else at this time. We still enjoyed the delicious food and the company.

Wishing Puan Tini and Miss Lee a pleasant life as retirees and still hope we will still meet again for other gathering.

And I should thank the host for the good food and hospitality, as well as other friends who were there to share the food they brought along.

THE POST EID VISIT 1439H [PART SIX]

The post Eid visit today was different as I went visiting this time, and not being visited. Puan A'liah Hussein, an ex-colleague of SMK Taman Universiti, welcome the English teachers of SMKTUN (and a few non-English teachers as well) to her house in Taman Pulai Perdana which should be some sort of a belated Eid celebration.

Unfortunately, I was the last one to arrive when the crowd had already dispersed as my meeting in school finished only at 4:00 p.m. I definitely had missed the gathering of gossip girls which should be the main agenda of the gathering.

Thank you Puan A'liah and Miss Rabiah for the delicious home-made food, as well as entertaining the latecomer. Hope this will happen again next year and many more years to come.

THE 22nd DAY OF EID 1436H

7th August 2015 ~ More visiting activities resumed on the weekend holiday. I was invited to attend an open house at Mr. Syazwan's house in Taman Pulai Perdana which I happily obliged. I met with more people I was familiar with there. Good food, good company - so there was nothing to complain.

Later in the evening, a close friend, Mr. Masrizal Sayute, and his family members came visiting. One of the regular visitors who has become a family friend, I could watch the children growing up in front of my eyes.

Before the door was closed for the 22nd day of Eid celebration, a group of ex-students from SPM batch 2010 dropped by. I am glad actually that many of my ex-students do not change a lot after they have left school that I could easily recognized them from their looks even though I might not remember their names.

And a few more days to go...
