ATTENDING MISS FADHLUN' S WEDDING

I must say that majority of the trainees who underwent their teaching practical sessions in SMK Taman Universiti were generally pleasant and friendly. They also adapted well to the school environment and seemed to enjoy their time in school. I was invited to a wedding of an ex-trainee. Miss Fadhlun Hanaffi, who was teaching in SMKTUN about three years ago. The event was held in Pekan Nanas, Pontian.

She is one of the few ex-trainees I am still keeping in touch with, thanks to Facebook. I even saw her attending the workshop I conducted for Pontian English language teachers recently.

I was also very very happy to get to meet Fadhlun's friend who was in the same batch doing her training in my school. Miss Lim Wen Li came all the way from Kuantan just to attend her friend's wedding.

Thanks a lot Puan Fadhlun (now a "Madam" already) and may your married life be filled with joy and happiness, with sunshine during the day and twinkling stars at night throughout the wedded life.

MR. IKRAM'S AND MR. FAHMI'S LAST DAY IN SMKTUN

Mr. Fahmi and Mr. Ikram were spending their last day in SMKTUN for the teaching practice session. As a tradition, we threw a small party for the two guys in the staffroom. Nothing heavy, we still had variety of food to choose from with "roti canai" being the main 'dish' of the table.

I hope both the trainees had had a good time when they were here in SMKTUN and wishing them the very best of luck in their future undertakings.

BIDDING FAREWELL TO MR. MARKLIN AND MR. SALIHAN

Today was the last day for the two trainees from Institut Perguruan Temenggong Ibrahim who had undergone their teaching practice in SMKTUN. They were both teaching English.

So thanks a lot to both of them for all the help that they have given during their stay here and it was a pleasure to have them as a part of our family members. Wishing you all the very best of luck in their future undertakings.

And thanks for the presents too...

ATTENDING A MEETING AT IPTI

There was a meeting this morning at Institut Perguruan Temenggong Ibrahim [Temenggong Ibrahim Teacher Training College]. It was about the teacher trainees who will be coming to SMKTUN next week.

I was happy to get to see some familiar faces of friends who are also English teachers. I met an ex-colleague, Mr. Mohd. Zain, who is now attached with the Institute. There was also Puan Samiha whom I met at Dr. Hayati's place back in Coventry last June.

briefing by the Director

And lastly I met Mr. Arshad Amir, an ex-student who is now an English teacher at SMK Desa Tebrau. I was glad because there was someone I could talk to throughout the session. And the whole thing ended earlier than scheduled, to everyone's relief. So am I ready for extra work next week?

POTLUCK FOR IPTI TRAINEES

Today's potluck was held to bid farewell to two trainees who taught English from IPTI (Temenggong Ibrahim Teacher Training Institute). Although potluck is held quite frequently, all the teachers were excited just the same, and most probably because we are quite tired with the food at the canteen prepared for the afternoon session.

theme: noodles

So we had different types of noodles: mee kari, mee bandung, mee bakso, mee siam and mee tomyam. With the ingredients were prepared separately, so it was a matter of mix and match. Mix the noodles with the gravy your heart desired.

a few of the few male colleagues, birds of a feather.

Thank you to Miss Jahiza and Miss Izzatie for all the time spent in our school. Hope that you have had a great time here and wish you two the best of luck in your future career, as teachers hopefully.

And thanks a lot too for the parting gift as well. Definitely the right choice of present for me as I do not have anything else to read right now.
