12TH JUNE - FAREWELL TO GERMANY

the beautiful Bietz's residence with Oriental decor

After a two-nights stay, it was time to say "goodbye" to the Bietz family, Hildesheim and also Germany. It was a short but definitely meaningful visit. I had never dreamed of setting foot here and this is like a chance of a lifetime.

Thanks a lot to Puan Siti Khadijah and also Mr. Stefan Bietz for the kind gestures throughout my stay here. I hope to explore more of Germany in the future, if time permits.

Good bye Germany! When will I see you again?

10TH JUNE - ROAMING THE STREETS OF HILDESHEIM

As time and tide waits for no man, after arriving at Puan Siti Khadijah's house, she quickly took me to see the city of Hidelsheim. One word that can describe the place: BEAUTIFUL.

a thorn among the roses

You can see German architecture which dated back to hundred of years ago all around the city. Churches are almost everywhere and they are real big with high towers and steeples.

St. Michael's Church

One of the places that we went to was St. Michael's Church which is a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site. The church is well known for its monumental painted ceiling and with all the precious objects that can be found there is one of Europe largest church treasures.

I have many photographs of Hidelsheim that I will post later in my blog, and I will need my friend's help to label them. Come back soon!

ENJOYING A GERMAN VILLAGE LIFE

I am already back in Coventry after a two nights stay in German. Too many photos to upload and too many stories to tell, I will take a lot of time to write. So I will try my very best to post things that do not require a lot of narration.

Arriving at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bietz, I was already mesmerized not only by its serene surrounding but also by the beautiful architecture. Based on the address, the village is situated is Sorsum, Hildesheim. The roads are small, the cars occupying them are just a few and other than houses, there will be a vast land of green farm, thick and lush plain green field or sometimes adorned with red or yellow wild flowers.

The house was built in an area which actually consists of a few buildings with different designs altogether.

The most interesting fact about this place is that one of the original buildings was actually a monastery. You can even see the part of its original wall still standing strong and the building has been converted into houses for people to stay.

If heaven is a place on earth, then this could a piece of heaven that I had experienced.

BLOGGING FROM HILDESHEIM, GERMANY

a short tour of Hildesheim

Since I am already in UK, then I have decided to pay another friend who is staying in Germany a visit. So this, time I have the chance to meet Puan Siti Khadijah Bietz, in Hildesheim. The feeling of seeing another old friend on a foreign land was just indescribable. This is just going to be a very short posting because: (1) The battery of my Olympus camera is flat. (2) I forget to bring the cable for my Canon Camera. (3) I am having difficulties typing because the keyboard is different and the computer is operating in German. So just a few photographs for today, visit soon for more.
