WHEN THE DEPUTY MINISTER CAME VISITING

Madam Lim Hui Ying, the Deputy Minister of Women, Family and Community Development [KPWKK] visited JKM's Kompleks Penyayang in Kempas today. One of the sites she went to was the Children's Activity Centre.

I was also there as I was free while the other committee members were all working on Monday.

I met the newly appointed supervisor of the activity centre, Miss Putri Nurdayana, who happens to be an ex-student of SMK Dato' Jaafar.

She was in the activity centre for about 15 minutes and it was then ended because she had to go to other spots in the building.

I was glad a friend, Mr. Wan Hasrin, was also there so we quickly left the place and made our way to Zus Cafe in Setia Tropika. Nothing beats a glass of iced coffee after a hard day's work. 😆

THE COFFEE SESSION THAT HAPPENED DURING LUNCH HOUR

Right after the programme with Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat [JKM] [TRANSLATE: Welfare Department] was over, a coffee session was set with two friends during lunch hour. The chosen venue was Roast & Coffee located at Setia Tropika.

The place was crowded when we arrived. People seem to love having their meals at modern restaurant with kopitiam [TRANSLATE: coffee shop] vibe.

We just had variety of toasts and coffee, but food tasted better with the chats and gossips.

Thanks to Mr. Wan Hasrin and Mr. Firdaos, who is also an ex-student of SMK Taman Universiti, for the time and company. We always wish to do this more often but someone works quite far away from the city and always busy during weekends.

THE LAST MINUTE COFFEE SESSION THAT TOOK PLACE IN THE EVENING

How did this happen in the first place? When Mr. Mohd. Firdaos [an ex-student of SMK Taman Universiti] responded to a post I published on Facbook suggesting we go out for coffee. And the plan was executeded in about an hour.

The chosen venue was Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf located in Setia Tropika. It was just a short session as we had to go home for our Maghrib prayer. Hope to see him again some other time despite his tight schedule. I must say he is one of the few regular coffee buddies that I have now, as many have already disappeared from the horizon.

GOING VIETNAMESE FOR LUNCH WITH AN EX-STUDENT

Halal Certified Restaurant

On my lucky day, an ex-student would invite me out for a meal, which is quite rare nowadays. Miss Nurul Izzah Abdul Rahman, an ex-student of SMK Taman Universiti, contacted and a date was set to meet up for lunch.

The chosen venue was MyViets Restaurant located at Setia Tropika. We were both excited to try the Vietnamese food for the first tine here. Hence, if you cannot go to Vietnam, Vietnam will come to you. The most important thing, MyViets is a Halal Certified eating place thus you should have not any doubt eating there.

The restaurant opened at 11:45 a.m. and we were the first customers to occupy the seats.

THE VERDICT: I had Beef Soup Noodles and the taste was flavourful, and I decided there and then to make a return trip soon. I ordered Vietnamese Coffee which reminded me of the coffee I had had by the roadside in Ho Chi Ming City once a upon a time.

my very first Eid Money Packet this year

The dine in session took about an hour and it was great to get to chat and do some catch up. I have to thank Miss Nurul Izzah for the time, the treat and all the gifts given before we parted ways. Hopefully we could do this gastronomic adventure again some other time and that will be my turn to give her a treat in return.

THE COFFEE SESSION BECAUSE OF A GLASS OF FREE COFFEE

I was at Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf Cafe in Setia Tropika with Mr. Solihin Ramli mainly because I had this voucher given by UOB that needed to be redeemed today. The offer would expire tomorrow.

I was expecting a bigger treat given by the bank but one could only either choose one piece of bagel OR a glass of drinks [from the three options given], for free. Well, beggars cannot be choosers. And we had cakes that we had to pay on our own.

I am already hungry now. I should have chosen the bagel instead of the iced mocha, and buy a cup of hot coffee.

Thanks Mr. Solihin for the time and company. It is getting difficult for me to find a coffee buddy these days, and it is getting to be more difficult next year. You go figure why.

A MEETING WITH AN EX-COLLEAGUE BEFORE THE CNY BREAK

A meeting was set with Mr. Lim Khim Yan, an ex-colleague of SMK Mutiara Rini. The main objective was to pass his Chinese New Year cookies to him, as he is now stationed at SMK Tan Sri Mohamad Rahmat, formerly known as SMK Kempas.

The initial plan was to meet at a cafe in Setia Tropika but I discovered there was Tea Garden at the same building. I had been to the branch in Taman Perling and this should be the chance to enjoy halal Chinese food.

I had Fried Radish, Egg Tarts and Taufu Fa in Soy Milk this time.

It was a short sit in session but we managed to get ourselves updated. Glad to get to meet an old friend again and hope we could do this again some other time.

ATTENDING THE WEDDING RECEPTION OF A COLLEAGUE'S DAUGHTER

Puan Saleha Salleh, a colleague of SMK Dato' Jaafar, held the first wedding reception for the family, of her daughter. The event was held at Setia Tropika Concention Hall, in Setia Tropika [obviously].

I was there at about 2:45 p.m. but there were still a few colleagues in the hall.

Pn. Saleha's son, an ex-student

Hoping that I will still be invited by the host for more wedding receptions in the future. 😀
