ADISUCIPTO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, JOGJAKARTA

It was time to bid farewell to Jogjakarta. As we were welcomed at Adisucipto International Airport, we then had to bid it goodbye.

It was a small airport but like other ordinary international transit ports, everything was managed well here. The waiting hall was not that spacious so it could be crowded at times. There was this small exhibition, telling the visitors about the traditional costumes worn during a Jogja wedding.

At the departure hall, there were display of paintings of local artists on the walls.

Now everybody can fly (back home)
I guess that should conclude my 5D4N trip to Jogjakarta with my friends from UPM TESL of 1993 batch. We had lots of fun and laughter and I am sure, it would be something that we could reminisce when we get old and have our reunion party later.

Hopefully, I could come back later to Jogjakarta one day, to see places not yet visited and eat food not yet tried. You never know of the surprises life has to offer.

HOTEL REVIEW - ABADI HOTEL, JOGJAKARTA

We stayed at "Abadi Hotel" during our 5D4N tour. The hotel is very near to the famous Malioboro Street and it is actually located just at the entrance gate to the Jogjakarta Railway Station.

The room was spacious and clean. Breakfast was provided, and there was also a swimming pool.

It was a pleasant stay at Abadi Hotel and I would recommend this place especially if you like to walk along Malioboro Street at night.

JOGJA GASTRONOMIC ADVENTURE - SUHARTI FRIED CHICKEN

11TH FEBRUARY 2016 ~ On our way to the airport on the last day in Jogjakarta, we stopped by at this restaurant "Ayam Goreng Suharti" [translate: Suharti Fried Chicken]. Looking at the gigantic billboard by the roadside, this could be one popular eating place here.

We had a take-away meal. The fried chicken was eaten at the airport while waiting for the time to board the plane. I even took home the fried "taufu" [soy cake] and "tempe" [fermented soy cake].

Basically everything that needs been reported has been reported. That was the last original Jogjakarta food we had before saying goodbye. I have already missed all the good food there and hopefully I could make a comeback some other time in the future.

THE TOURISTY STREET OF MALIOBORO

10th February 2016 ~ Our hotel was located near Malioboro Street, and we specifically requested for the location as Malioboro is a well-known shopping place for tourists. And the irony of it all, we could only go to Malioboro Street on the last night of or stay in Jogjakarta. We went back to the hotel quite late almost every day so we did not have the opportunity to explore.

Basically, this is the place for tourists to get the usual souvenirs - e.g. t-shirts, key chains, hand fans, batik shirts, and all the things that you could bring back home for friends and loved ones.

Unfortunately, the angklung street performers did not do any show when I went there. I guess I have to make a comeback to Jogjakarta one day. One day...
