A COLLABORATIVE "SOLAT HAJAT" PROGRAMME WITH THE JOHOR POLICE CONTINGENT

27th SEPTEMBER 2018 ~ The "Solat Hajat" [a special prayer asking for something to be granted] for the upcoming public examinations, namely PT3, SPM and STPM, was held at Tunku Laksmana Abdul Jalil Mosque which is situated near SMK Dato' Jaafar. Johor's Police Chief, YDH Datuk Mohd. Khalil bin Kadir and wife, as well as other state's police officers, were present. This was like a collaboration activity between the school and the Police and this was the second time done at the mosque located inside the police headquarters. The mosque is new, air-conditioned and therefore, more suitable and comfortable for such programme. The attendance of the students and parents was also good.

The whole thing ended by 9:30 p.m. and I don't mind doing the same activity here again next year.

A "SOLAT HAJAT" AND ENGAGEMENT CEREMONY ON A WEEKEND

21ST JANUARY 2017 ~ Mr. Hisham Abdullah and Puan Norhafizah Zulkifli invited me to attend a "solat hajat" event held at their house in Taman Mutiara Rini. It was a special prayer performed to ask for a wish to be granted by Allah the merciful, and in this case, for the expecting mother and the father-to-be. Another event held was the engagement ceremony of Puan Norhafizah's younger sister.

It was always a joy to meet with my old friends, my ex-colleagues of SMK Taman Universiti.  Many male teachers turned up on that day to attend the prayer, while the ladies might come a bit later. I hope I would be invited again in similar events in the future.

STATE LEVEL "SOLAT HAJAT PERDANA"

4th September 2014 ~ I was asked to attend the "Solat Hajat Perdana" event that was held at the mosque in Bandar Baru Uda. This event was a state level function organized by the State and District Education Office and I wonder if they are having this kind of event at national level too. The prayer was held for candidates who will be sitting for various public examinations like UPSR, PT3, SPM and STAM. There should be many VIPs, teachers, and students from both primary and secondary schools.

[solat hajat ~ a special prayer held to ask God to grant our wishes.]

Dinner was prepared for everybody right after everything was over but there were just too many people whom I did not know around so I just went off  and had my favourite "Kacang Pool" at the usual stall. I must be the obedient one, I did not see other people whom I should be seeing.

SOLAT HAJAT FOR PMR AND SPM CANDIDATES

26th September ~ The annual "solat hajat" [a special prayer to request for something] was done today for the PMR and SPM candidates this evening. According to the original plan, it was to be done at school, at the open the assembly area. However, the weather was not kind enough - it rained quite heavily in the morning. So we switched to Plan B - to move it to the nearby mosque - Tan Sri Ainuddin Wahid Mosque.

there's a very big fan now in the mosque

The attendance of parents, teachers and students was good. We always get good response from parents when we carry out event like this. We hope with the prayers from everyone present this evening will assist the students in getting good results in their coming examinations.

SOLAT HAJAT IN SCHOOL

The "solat hajat" (special prayer asking for our wishes to be granted by Allah) was held this evening. It was quite late I must say, considering the fact the form three students will be sitting for the PMR examination next Tuesday, we used to have it much earlier for the previous years. The form three and form students came to school with their parents and as usual, the attendance was really good.

Here were a few of the activities that took place before, during and after the event:

preparing the praying area

parents and students arriving

registration
waiting for the event to start

praying time
aerial view

a short religious talk

packed food for the guests

That should be the very last school activity of the year involving the parents. We are actually getting near to end of the school session. How time flies!

SOLAT HAJAT IN SCHOOL FOR PMR AND SPM CANDIDATES

Maghrib prayer - but more people arriving after that

A routine programme which is held every year is the "solat hajat" - a special prayer carried out with the hope that Allah the Almighty will grant our wishes. In Islam, in order to ensure success, hardwork must be accompanied with prayers. We are hoping that Allah will show the form 3 and form 5 students who will be taking their PMR and SPM respectively the easy paths, as well as will be able to pass their exams with good results.

socializing with the parents

pretending to look busy

reciting the Yaasin verse

listening to tazkirah - reminding the others

with the students...

and friends

The whole event was considered a success just by judging the number of parents who turned to give support and together prayed for their children's success.

And the "tazkirah" session was continued at an eating place outside right after the whole function was over. The discussion was quite short and the meeting was adjourned at 10:30 p.m.
