EVERLAND - AND THE EXCITEMENT BEGAN (PART 1)

5th JUNE 2015 ~ Everland is the Korean version of Disneyland theme park, minus Mickey, Donald and Goofy. We got the tickets for 33 000 won each; the original price was 48 000 won. The place is quite far from the city centre (or depending on where one is staying) so make sure you start early as travelling would take like 1 hour or more. How much time should one spend here? As much as you can. You can even buy a 2-day package to come back again the next day if you want to.

Unfortunately the weather was not that kind on that day but the fun must go on.

This was just the beginning - the entrance to the theme park. There are many episodes coming your way- you have been warned.

HONG KONG DISNEYLAND - PART 4

welcome to Grizzly Gulch

people waiting for the coasters
After trying all the rides at the Toy Story section, we went to another spot called "Grizzly Gulch" which was the great Wild West. We tried another roller coaster here and we thought it would be not be that scary and we were actually wrong. During the ride, there would be one point when we thought the whole thing had ended but then the coasters started to lurch at full speed and the whole world turned upside down.

By this time we were actually a bit exhausted but we still had to see one of the most important events of the park - the parade. So while waiting for it to start, we went to take a ride on the train at the pink railway station.

It was a pleasant ride round the park with majority of the passengers were parents with small kids and senior citizens. We didn't care, as long as we could get the chance to sit down before started walking again.

And at 3:30 p.m., at the main road near the entrance, the parade of famous cartoon characters started. We couldn't secure a good spot to watch the long-awaited parade. There were just too many people. Where did all these people come from? When we were arrived this morning, the whole place belonged to us but at that time, not anymore. To make thing worse, it started to rain and people were using their umbrellas but at the same time blocking the views of people behind. We only snapped pictures from afar and lucky enough, the floats were designed in a way the characters were located high in the air so we could see them clearly, but we could not see the other parade members and sexy girls who were walking/dancing on the street.

So that wraps up our adventure in the magical land of Disney. We had fun, a lot of it and for one thing, you would never be too old to enjoy yourself here.
We left the magic and fantasy and went back into the world of reality.
*sigh*

HONG KONG DISNEYLAND - PART 3

the African-village-themed spot
The Hong Kong Disneyland was a large area and you could spend your whole day there if you want to, even until at night. There were just too many things too see that we did not refer to the map or the schedule of any show, we were on the move most of the time.

We also came across this food court selling HALAL food for Muslims. And NO, we did not try any as we went there equipped with our packed lunch. For your information, outside food is not allowed in the park and there will be security guards who will check your bags at the entrance. Nevertheless, we brought in our sandwiches, cereal bars, chocolates and bottled mineral water but the staff let us in without confiscating anything from us. So light snacks in small quantity should be alright after all.

the eager visitors

Then we arrived at the place where a show that had something to do with the Lion King was about to start at 2:00 p.m. At first there were just a few people and then the crowd started to arrive. Everybody was trying to get as near to the gate as possible and they were pushing others who were waiting patiently which was really irritating. These people were afraid that they might not get any seat in the building. I thanked God for giving me the strength not to slap anybody there.

before the show started
When we entered the hall, it was actually VERY big and could accommodate hundreds of people. There was no need to rush, people. This is one reason why students have to learn Civic in schools in Malaysia.

in front of the theatre

By the way, the show was the a live theatre of the animation movie "The Lion King". It was a spectacular performance of a musical drama with people dancing, singing and performing acrobatic acts and there was a tinge of Chinese culture in the presentation.

taking shelter from the rain
At one point of the visit, it started to rain, right after we left the Lion King theatre. I was glad I did not throw away the ponchos that I got from my recent trip to Niagara Falls. [NOTE TO SOLLEH: I told you they would be useful]

Then there was this section that was related to Toy Story and we decided to try the rides because the queue was not long. The first one was called Toy Story Parachute Drop. I had tried similar ride in Genting Highlands which was scarier. The rides here were more children-friendly.

Then we tried another ride which was more frightening. But too bad, it lasted only for a short while when it felt like it was never going to end when we were up there. Moving backward was not as bad as going forward - I felt like I was about to be thrown out from the seat when I was going down the slope. Scream everybody, scream!

the survivors
The last part of Hong Kong Disneyland trip coming soon.
