1st MARCH 2024 ~ Our annual gathering during Chinese New Year could not be carried out this year as he had to study for his upcoming examination. Then another date was proposed at the end of February but unfortunately I was in Penang on that particular date.
However, the following week I had to be in Kuala Lumpur to attend a wedding and that should be the best time for me to meet an ex-student of SMK Taman Universiti, Mr. Ng Ching Kai. He suggested we met at Sunway Pyramid after work which I obliged.
The chosen venue was Ole Ole Bali Restaurant. The place was popular it seemed. I could see people lining up outside waiting to be seated. A few people were also turned away after that, most probably either the restaurant had run out of food stock in the kitchen or they would not have enough time to prepare food after 9:00 p.m.
We had the same food choice: Nasi Campur Bali style - rice with a variety of dishes. If you cannot go to Bali, then Bali will come to you. It was very Indonesian. With no gravy, the food was dry. The Chicken Rendang tasted like Honey Chicken and I guess we loved the local sate more. Ching Kai and I had similar taste when it came to food tasting.
It was good to get to see Mr. Ng Ching Khai once in a blue moon. While many other ex-students have already disappeared from the radar, Ching Kai is still here at least once a year.
Thanks a lot for the treat and for the time spent over dinner. Hope to see you again, latest by next year.
