EXPLORING MAJLIS BANDARAYA KUCHING UTARA COMPOUND

5th SEPTEMBER 2022  ~ The main mission was to find the Cat Museum. Never did we expect the museum was located inside this majestic building erected atop of a hill that could be seen from far away. I first thought it was a mosque because of the huge dome or a building related to any Islamic body in Kuching. It was actually Majlis Bandaraya Kuching Utara [TRANSLATE: Commission of the City of Kuching North, but I would rather name of North Kuching City Council which should be simpler].

We of course explore the surroundings of the huge building first and it provided a bird's eye view of the city. First there was this gigantic mural of an orange cat painted on the wall of a mall [it was Eco mall if not mistaken]. Another view from afar was Serapi Mountain.

There was actually a park if you walk down the flight of stairs. Sadly, the park was not taken care of it looked like as if it was abandoned. There were only two tourists roaming around the area - US. Other people were more interested to get into the Cat Museum.

If more effort is taken to develop the park, I believe it could also be one of the attractions to visitors and tourists apart from the museum. I hope someone from the Commission is reading this and invite me over to Kuching again to present my proposal on how to make this spot a better place. 😀

We also spent quite some time here. After walking around the building, up and down the hill, and  the museum visit, and there was another gallery opened to people.

One thing I forgot to mention is that it was cloudy, or intermittently drizzling during our 4-day stay in Kuching. The photos would turn out better with the sunshine and blue sky but we were still thankful that it did not rain when we were there.
