ATTENDING A WEDDING RECEPTION OF A NEIGHBOUR'S SON

These days, wedding receptions are usually done in wedding halls and no longer at the homes of the brides and grooms. Today however I went to attend the event held at the house of the bride. The invitation came from the groom's father who is my neighbour. We were invited to the receptions of the bride's side in Kampung Pasir.

To be seated at the same table with six other people from my neigbourhood would be something very rare for me.

There was a real invitation card sent before the reception. We now only receive e-card on social media platform like WhatsApp.

Another traditional practice that we encountered today was we were given packed food to bring home before going home. This was something common many years ago.

There was another wedding reception of a neighbour's son which will be held at his house tomorrow.

ATTENDING THE WEDDING RECEPTION OF MY MECHANIC'S SON

Mr. Mohd. Shah Hj. Tugimin held the second wedding reception for his family. He is my one and only mechanic for more than 20 years so I had no reason not to go.

The venue was at Dewan Hassan Abdullah in Kampung Pasir. I went there early so as to avoid the expected crowd later. However, other people who would be there [as his wife is also a teacher] had not yet arrived so I had no one to talk to and left earlier than usual.

Congratulations Mr. Mohd. Shah on the addition of a new member into the family. Hopefully I will be invited again for other receptions after this.
