DINNER SESSION AT YEO SEKELUARGA RESTAURANT BUT AT THE NEW SPOT

The mission of this week's gastronomic adventure was to eat seafood for dinner. The proposed eating place was Yeo Sekeluarga Restaurant in Tanjung Adang. For once, we wanted a different ambience - a restaurant "floating" on the water and the view of the river while enjoying the food. The biggest surprise of my life: the restaurant was no located on hard solid ground, by the main road.

I was told by the waiter they had to move as there was a project taking place at the old spot. These were the reports of the meals I had with my friends back in 2021 [CLICK HERE, HERE and HERE], in 2022 [CLICK HERE] and the most recent one was back in 2024 [CLICK HERE].

The food was good but I still I missed the old place. Sometimes people came to that place just because of its different surroundings. I bet this new place is less attractive compared to the old one. There is always a price to pay for development.

HAVING DINNER AT TANJUNG ADANG, GELANG PATAH

12TH OCTOBER 2024    ~ This was our second time having dinner at Yeo's Seafood Restaurant in Tanjung Adang, Gelang Patah. We had to venture out a bit from the city to get there.

As usual, when Mr. Ridwan ordered food, the table would be full with all kinds of dishes.

I got another birthday present from the family that evening, fresh from JPO.

Now I have a brand new watch to wear for my outing trips or formal functions, with changeable straps to match my attire.

That was the second meal of the day together. There was still one more day to go for more gastronomic adventures in Johor Bahru.

VENTURING OUT OF THE CITY FOR DINNER

14th JULY 2022 ~ For the next gastronomic adventure, we drove out of the city to a place called Tanjung Adang where Yeo's Sekeluarga Seafood Restaurant was located.

We were the second group of customers to arrive that evening so we had the place all to ourselves.

My guests, Puan Sakinah Ismail [of UPM TESL class of 1993], her husband and daughter, loved the seafood dishes served but we had to eat quickly as one or the waiters told us there would be a high tide that would flood the river bank in about half an hour. This could be because of the Supermoon phenomena which happened the day before. I just could not imagine if we got trapped in the restaurant which was built on stilt on the water and had to spend the night there until it subsided. I was even thinking of waiting to see the high tide but wouldn't want to take the risk.

It was an evening of great food and interesting experience. But the gastronomic adventure would resume the next day.

WHEN AN OLD FRIEND WAS IN TOWN

12TH NOVEMBER 2021 ~ Mr. Ridwan A. Wahid [a friend of UPM TESL class of 1993] was back in town with his wife and daughter. It is customary for us to meet up and eat out so we met again. One prompt decision was made to go to Tanjung Adang which is 22 kilometres away from the hotel. I was quite surprised my friend was willing to drive to that very eating spot which was far away.

I just came to this place three days before with another friend. There were many people who had already arrived and was enjoying their dinner when we arrived.

I am glad that everybody immensely enjoyed the food served so it was worth the distance travelled and time [and the money spent as well]. Another date was set for breakfast session for the next day so the report will be continued soon.

A LATE LUNCH/EARLY DINNER SESSION WITH AN EX-SCHOOLMATE

9th NOVEMBER 2021 ~ The original plan was to go to this place which was nearer for lunch but we saw the restaurant was closed when we arrived. A prompt decision had to be made for another spot where we could fill our already grumbling tummies. And here we are, somewhere in Tanjung Adang, which was further away from town, at "Restoran Makanan Laut Yeo Sekeluarga" [TRANSLATE: Yeo's Family Seafood Restaurant].

There was another neighbouring restaurant but it was not operating. The last time I visited this area must be a very long time ago, when I was still teaching in Gelang Patah.

One attraction of this place is that it is overlooking the newly developed Forest City project. This place should be more scenic if the sky is bright and blue. It was drizzling and cloudy when we were there so I guess we need to make a comeback just to get better photos.

The most important thing, the food here was good and we truly enjoyed everything served for our late lunch/early dinner.

As our used to be regular eating out session is now resumed after the long break because of the MCO, it is time to get more information of places to go for our meals after this. Thanks Mr. Mohd. Razib Noordin, my ex-schoolmate [of SMS Muar] for the time, company and the treat. It should then be my turn to pay next time.
