THE LATE DINNER/SUPPER SESSION

13th JANUARY 2018 ~ When was the last time I had a late dinner/supper cum gossip session? It was too long ago, I couldn't even remember whether I even had one last year. One reason, everybody was super busy with work and other commitment.

The (used to be) regular hanging out buddies of SMK Taman Universiti SPM batch 2006 ex-students met again in the evening, at our regular hang out place near my house, as someone wanted to hand over his wedding invitation card. Hence, I guess there will be less coffee session after this. Congratulations to Mr. Solleh in advance.

Do expect my blog post of attending Mr. Solleh's wedding real soon.

A COFFEE SESSION AT SENAI AIRPORT

Puan Aliza Alwi was in town as she was accompanying her daughter who is studying in UTM home for the semester break. She arrived in JB in the morning and already leaving late in the afternoon. The original plan was just to meet her at Senai Airport. However, I was also attending a wedding reception somewhere near UTM so I might as well fetch and drive them to the airport in my old car. The coffee session at Secret Recipe lasted just for an hour but it was good to chat with someone from UPM class of 1993.

THE (ANGKLUNG) MUSIC MUST GO ON

Today was actually the second meeting for the Angklung Group members. Two sessions were conducted: the juniors,  who are the form two students - the first timers, in the morning while the senior section in the afternoon.

The new players were taught to play a simple song: "Enjit-enjit Semut" and they really learned fast. Hopefully they will be ready to perform in front of the audience real soon.

As for the senior section members, I hope that many of them will not leave the group as they are now in form 3 and 5, and will be sitting for their PT3 and SPM exams, respectively. Or else I will have to get the new members from the junior section into the group.

MOVIE REVIEW - '"THE GREATEST SHOWMAN"

I managed to watch the human side of Hugh Jackman on screen finally. All this while he had been a Wolverine. Playing the character of P.T. Barnum, the founder of the Ringling and The Barnum & Bailey Circus, "The Greatest Showman" tells the life story of one of the prominent figures in American entertainment industry. 

I always wanted to go to Singapore to watch a live theatre performance, but for now, I had to settle for this musical. Even though the setting was of New York's 17th century - the music and the dance were very contemporary, and I enjoyed the whole movie very much.

I just hope this film will win at the coming Academy Award for Best Costume Design or Best Make Up and Hairstyling, or Best Original Score/Original Song.

THE FIRST MEETING OUTSIDE SCHOOL FOR 2018

The first meeting involving the Senior Assistants were held today at SMK Mohd. Khalid. It was initially done in the seminar room.

We however had to move to another room because the LCD projector could not be used.

The meeting ended at 1:00 p.m. which should be good news. The bad news was that there would be a similar meeting again next week. *sigh*

This was just the beginning to a string of endless meetings throughout the year. *double sigh*

I'VE GOT MAIL

I very rarely get any parcel in the mailbox as I don't shop online. Today however was my lucky day. A [Poslaju] package finally arrived at the office. I was expecting this as I was already informed of the delivery by the sender the week before. The mail was from a friend from UPM TESL class of 1993.

Thanks Puan Zanariah Abdul Shukor for the Argan Oil and the souvenirs. Your kind thought and generosity are very much appreciated. 

THE MUSEUM AT BENTENG SOMBA OPU

16th OCTOBER 2017 ~ There was a small museum and there was no entrance fee. I was the only tourist at that time and the officer/staff could be seen around.

There was a small exhibition of regular things you could see in a museum.

Then there were this group of school children outside.

They were there together with university students in some sort of an educational programme. A few of the kids we wearing their colourful traditional costumes. They should be very lucky to get to go on an excursion during school hours.
