ATTENDING THE WEDDING RECEPTION BY THE SEASIDE IN KUANTAN - PART TWO

[CONTINUATION OF PART ONE]

25th JANUARY 2026    ~ After eating all the delicious food indoor, the members of the UPM TESL Class of 1993 group adjourned to to the open space by the seaside. The beach was the extended stretch of Pantai Balok nearby. The weather was pleasant that afternoon, not too hot and the wind from the sea helped a lot.

The Kopi Saigon coffee kiosk was a hit among the guests. People queued up to get their coffee fix.

Other than enjoying the scenery, we took a lot of photos while waiting for the ultimate group photo with the mother of the bride.

Finally we managed to kidnap Puan Suriana Ali, the host a.k.a the mother of the bride to take one final UPM TESL group photo.

Congratulations to Puan Suriana Ali and family as the family now has grown bigger. Thanks also for inviting us to Kuantan, and hope we will still be invited again for similar events in the future.

We will have to wait for the next wedding reception of somebody's son or daughter to gather again this year.

ATTENDING THE WEDDING RECEPTION BY THE SEASIDE IN KUANTAN - PART ONE

25TH JANUARY 2026    ~ Puan Suriana Ali, a friend of UPM TESL Class 1993, once again invited us to the wedding reception of her daughter, the third one for the family. The venue was at Rumah Abang Jamil which was located by the seaside. Pantai Balok to be exact.

A few friends were already there with their spouses and family members when I arrived at the place by 12:30 p.m.

We first sat indoor and enjoyed the feast prepared for the guests.

The mandatory photo session happened immediately and that was just the beginning.

More and more guests were arriving and we had to vacate our seats for other people. My friends and I then adjourned to the outdoor area near the beach.

GOING THAI FOR THE LONG WEEKENDS LUNCH

My regular eating out buddy and I managed to squeeze in a lunch session on the last day of the long weekends because of the public holiday. The chosen venue was Absolute Thai restaurant in Sunway Big Box as Mr. Redzuan wanted to introduce me to the Green Curry dish there.

Fortunately there were not many people at the mall and the restaurant so we could stay and chat longer.

Green Curry

Mango Salad

Spring Rolls

THE FOOD REVIEW: It was my first time at the restaurant and the Green Curry was delicious. The Mango Salad however was a bit too sweet for me, perhaps that was how it should be like.

Thanks to Mr. Redzuan for recommending this place and I would not hesitate to get back here again one day. He now has to think of another place for our next gastronomic adventure after this before the arrival of Ramadhan, the fasting month.

ATTENDING A WEDDING RECEPTION AT TAMAN SRI PULAI MOSQUE

An ex-colleague of SMK Gelang Patah, PM TS Dr. Mohd. Safarin Nordin, who is now lecturing in Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, held a wedding reception for his son, the first in the family. The event was held at Al-Tarmizi Hall, Taman Sri Pulai Mosque.

I opted for Laksa Johor this time which should be a lighter meal. I had another gathering right after so I would have to reserve some space in my tummy for the next buffet lunch feast.

Mr. Ali Mustafa was there but
I did not meet him
