A BAG OF PRESENTS FROM A STUDENT AND HIS PARENTS

Once in a blue moon, someone would go the extra mile to make a teacher feel appreciated. This kind of thing doesn't happen that often and to have a student's parents leaving presents in school (school holiday has already started) for the teachers teaching their kid is something rare. 

From the bottom of my heart, thanks to Mr. Syed Mohd. Amirul, of 3 Sinus SMK Dato' Jaafar, and his parents for the thoughtful gestures. Your kind deed is very much appreciated.

COFFEE SESSION AT STARBUCKS ONE FRIDAY AFTERNOON

18TH DECEMBER 2020 ~ This would be something that I rarely do - spending time at Starbucks. One reason: everything is overpriced. However someone was kind enough to give me a treat so I had no complaint. It was at Paradigm Mall, where I had had another farewell gathering at another venue earlier.

I ended up choosing Caramel Hot Chocolate which was a tad too sweet for me.

Thanks Mr. Haiqal Johari, an ex-student of SMK Taman Universiti, for buying me drinks. I don't really mind coming again if you happen to have extra money in your Starbucks card again. 😀

WHEN IN JOHOR, EAT [BREAKFAST] LIKE JOHORIANS DO

Mr. Ridwan Wahid and his family members from Shah Alam finally put up a night in Johor Bahru hence I was able to get them to eat breakfast like Johorians do. All this while, they had been staying at other hotels in Kulai or places near JPO.

I took them to Selera Johor where we could get a variety of authentic Johor dishes under one roof.

We had all these foods for the first meal of the day: (1) Mee Rebus Johor (2) Kuetiaw Soto (3) Laksa Johor (4) Lontong Goreng (5) Sup Merah (6) Sate. That should last everybody past his/her lunch hour. 😀

I guess they were happy with the breakfast they had. I just hope they will be coming back for more gastronomic adventure some other time in the future. I already told them to spend longer nights in JB so we could find and try more food.

WHEN AN EX-COURSEMATE WAS IN TOWN AGAIN

Mr. Ridwan Wahid, an ex-coursemate of UPM TESL class of 1993, and his family members were back in town and it was the time to meet up again. We decided to go for dinner and I couldn't believe it I had not introduced them to the popular Kacang Pool Haji at Larkin Bomba.

It was just a short meeting as it was getting late but we would be going for breakfast together tomorrow. 😀

A FAREWELL PARTY IN SEOUL [GARDEN]

Today was the very first day of the end of year school holiday. Two colleagues of SMK Dato' Jaafar would be going back to their home states after their applications to be transferred back were approved. We decided to hold a farewell gathering for Pn. Alia Shahira Tarmuji and Ms. Siti Khadijah Ibrahim at Seoul Garden at Paradigm Mall in the afternoon, and a few other colleagues managed to join in.

At the same time, there was also a birthday celebration for Ms. Aini which was today [the daughter of Pn. Che Noor Hamiza) and Ms. Siti Khadijah,who celebrated her birthday a week earlier.

Hopefully this small gathering would be something for Pn. Alia Shahira and Ms. Siti Khadijah to remember and wishing them the very best of luck at their new schools next year.

A FAREWELL GATHERING FOR A FRIEND MOVING OUT FROM SMK TAMAN UNIVERSITI

15TH DECEMBER 2020 ~  A group of male friends/ex-colleagues of SMK Taman Universiti held a farewell gathering to bid farewell to Mr. Muhamad Nur Farhan bin Muhamad Hanafiah, the school's counseling teacher, who will be going back to his home state, Pahang, next year. The venue chosen was Dapur Istimewa at Taman Pulai Perdana for dinner.

13 people were present at the restaurant and we dominated the dining area outside. The dinner did not last that long actually but the chit chat session seemed to be endless. Too bad I had to leave by 11:00 p.m. but only three of us left the place earlier than the rest.

I had never had the chance to work with Mr. Farhan under the same roof. Even though we were not colleagues, we had been some sort of a friend of friends and I got to know him virtually than in real life via Facebook. I know he had contributed a lot to SMK Taman Universiti and it would be a big loss when he is no longer there.

Congratulations Mr. Farhan as his application to be transferred was approved and wish him all the best of luck at his new school.
