CLIMBING THE MAJESTIC SEONGSAN ILCHULBONG, HALFWAY

9th JUNE 2015 ~ This is the iconic landmark of Jeju Island. It is one of the new 7 wonders of the natural world. Seongsang Ilchulbong was formed because of hydrovolcanic (something to do with volcano and water) 5000 years ago. Now people come here either to climb to the peak (or the nearest point) and to enjoy the scenic view from atop of the hill.

This place was crowded with people, everybody happily climbing up (you must be kidding me). We did not go up further as we would need more time to do that. Luckily the weather had improved a bit so the sky was brighter at that moment.

We then went down the stairs to the bottom part of the hill where there was a beach, also filled with people who were mostly busy taking photographs.

We wanted to see the famous woman of Jeju divers who are well-known for their ability to dive into deep water in search of pearls without using any breathing apparatus. Unfortunately, the show was already over at that time.

There was also this one place where seafood was put on sale. And if I am not mistaken, people could get the seafood cooked on the spot to be eaten there.

Then we had to climb back up again to the other spot on the hill. *sigh*
