5th JUNE 2016 ~ Beitou is the northernmost district of Taipei and is famous for its hot springs. It is a mountainous area and rivers with rising steam on their surface (because of geothermal effects) running through the place. I chose to come here as the tourists' attractions were located near to each other.
The Thermal Valley is located right at the end of Beito Park. However, from the park, the trip to all the other spots in Beito was going uphill. And don't ever believe when the locals tell you that the place is "nearby" or "within walking distance", you would end up walking for half an hour.
The place is quite small actually. There is a blue (or emerald) pond with hot steaming water and you could see the water vapour and smell the sulphur (sulfur) in the air. You could even feel the heat from afar.
I don't think it is advisable to stay here for too long. The smell of sulphur was so thick I guess it could suffocate people. Anyway, there is a sauna facility there, just in case you are interested.
