29th JANUARY 2017 ~ Adjoining Merdeka Walk, is a big park/open field called "Lapangan Merdeka". People were seen here sitting and enjoying the open area or busy taking photographs of themselves with either the gigantic alphabets that spelled "MEDAN" or the brightly and colourfully lit buildings in the background.

There were also hawkers selling toys, food or drinks on wheeled kiosks in the park.
This place is definitely the spot for visitors to pose to prove the "been there, done that" moment. I was glad I was brought to this place on my first day in the city.
