A 3-DAY MELAKA GETAWAY

24-26th AUGUST 2015 ~ A 3-day course for Johor Bahru district Senior Assistants of Students' Affairs (PK HEM) was held in Avallion Legacy Hotel, Melaka. The participants could simply on board of an express bus specially chartered to take us straight to the hotel from PPD Johor Bahru, and later took us back.

\

There were some new things learned and some old things being repeated and emphasized. However, with a good hotel with good food, there was nothing I could complain.

And I managed to explore a bit of Melaka historical city on my second day stay there. :)
Will post about that later.

A DINNER DATE WITH AN OLD FRIEND FROM COLLEGE

I got to know an old friend from my UPM TESL class was in town when I was still in the taxi on my way home. (I was in Melaka for a 3-day course). A dinner date was set and I took Puan Hannah Sheikh Mokhtar to Restoran ZZ Sup Tulang  (translate: ZZ Bone Soup Restaurant?).

It was just a short date and Puan Hannah would already be going back tomorrow evening but I was glad to be able to see her. Hope she enjoyed the local Mee Rebus of Johor as well as the other western dish ordered after the first dish.

A POST EID CELEBRATION

16TH AUGUST 2015 ~ I was invited to attend an open house a day even the month of Eid had ended, I was not surprised as people could simply invite others for a feast not necessarily during Eid. The event was held at Mr. Amirul Husni's sister in Taman Universiti which I could simply go right after school. Both Mr.Amirul Husni and his elder sister are the ex-students of SMKTUN.

It was great to get to meet the whole family again. It did not really matter I did not recognize any of the guests there as I always felt welcomed by the hosts in their house. Thanks a lot for the kind thought and hospitality.

A VERY SHORT MEETING WITH AN OLD FRIEND FROM COLLEGE

15th August 2015 ~ My meeting with old friends would usually last an hour or more, except for certain cases when the guests could not stay longer and had to hurry home. So when Puan Rozida Ramli, my ex-coursemate from the UPM TESL group class of 1993, came to Johor Bahru for her nephew's wedding but just could find the right time to sit and chat, we had to settle for a short meeting. I went to meet her and the family in Senibong while they were having their (early) dinner and we managed to gossip a bit and carried out the barter trade activity.

Thanks for the instant bottled "sambal" which I am yet to try later.  I might get some if I travel again in the future. And according to Puan Rozida, you could also order MamaG products online which I need to find out how to go about doing that.

ATTENDING THE WEDDING RECEPTION OF MS. FATIN OMAR

15th August 2015 ~ I was attending another wedding reception of an ex-student of SMKTUN, Miss Fatin Omar, which was held at Desa Skudai Community Hall. And there were the bride's siblings who are also the ex-students of the same school.

There would probably be more invitations from the family in the future - it is just a matter of time.

THE 30th DAY OF EID 1436H

15th AUGUST 2015 ~ This SHOULD be it - the very last open house attended for this year's Eid. A lesson learnt: do not claim the last kind of visiting or attending an open house until the very last day of Eid.

This session was hosted by Mr. Hasmidi Rani, another friend from SMKTUN at his house in Taman Mutiara Rini

There should be more than eating activity when friends meet at moment like this - the company of good friends, with gossips and laughter throughout. I guess we will have to wait for another year for this kind of thing to happen again.

THE 29th DAY OF EID 1436H

14th AUGUST 2015 ~ They were officially the last visitors for Eid this year. When I thought they were not visiting as they used to, Mr. Aliff and Mr. Ariff, accompanied by their mom and sister, were here, to my delight. Both the siblings are the ex-students of SMKTUN too, from SPM batch 2007 and 2010, respectively.

I guess it is time to close shop already. There was a continuous flow of visitors, first-timers and regulars, and some whom we did not have the chance to meet for Eid this year. I guess we have to wait until the next Eid next year.
