CASA MANILA MUSEUM - THE HOUSE DURING THE COLONIAL PERIOD [PART 1]

29th AUGUST 2017 ~ We came across this place by accident in Intramuros and decided to have a look inside without any hesitation. This house was built by Imelda Marcos to showcase the lifestyle of the rich (and famous) during the era of Spanish colonization.

Everything looked antique here - the building, the furniture and the decorations. However, it was well kept and presentable, except most of the staff were not friendly and informative. They were there perhaps just to make sure people did not touch or steal any item or take photo of certain pictures on the wall.

A MINI GET-TOGETHER AT MEDINI MALL

23rd SEPTEMBER 2017 ~ When two old friends from college, of the UPM TESL class of 1993 clan, were in town, a short mini reunion was immediately planned. We were also staying at the same 4th Residential College for almost 6 years. Puan Monaliza Ismail was here with her students (and other teachers) for a study trip to Johor Bahru while Puan Salmiah Mohd. Ghazali was visiting his son on that day.

Old Town White Coffee

We decided to meet at the most convenient place and time, at Medini Mall outside Legoland Malaysia. While Puan Monaliza's students were having fun inside the theme park, she was having fun chatting with us and there was a lot of catching up to do. This was some sort of a reunion as we had never met since we graduated about 24 years ago. However, Puan Salmiah was always present in all the past small gatherings we had in KL before this.

Puan Monaliza had to leave at 5.30 as the bus would be taking her group back to the hotel so we had no choice but to say our goodbyes, but not after taking more selfies outside the Legoland. (I felt so young.) Two hours and a half were definitely too short and I wonder when will we be meeting again after this.

Thanks for the time and company, ladies and hopefully there will be more opportunities for more gatherings after this.

STOPPING BY AT MANILA CATHEDRAL

29th AUGUST 2017 ~ The green dome of Manila Cathedral could be easily seen from afar and we decided to stop by to see what was inside. The cathedral is located at the centre of Intramuros. 80% of the population in the country is are Christians and that should explain all the big churches around the city. There are also big chapels in shopping malls we went to.

This was a huge building that could accommodate many people at one time. There were some people inside, most probably meditating or enjoying the echoing silence in the hall.
