CLIMBING UP MOUNT PHOUSI IN LUANG PRABANG [PART ONE]

4th DECEMBER 2016 ~ This is one must-do thing when you are in Luang Prabang: climbing Mount Phousi which is located at the town centre. So why should you do it: (1) Basically it is a must-do itinerary, so you have to jump into the bandwagon and join the joyful ride. (2) It is THAT one time you could observe the sunset - with hundreds of strangers from all around the world. (3) The top of Mount Phousi will give you a bird's eye view of Luang Prabang town. (4) You think you need some kind of exercise when you are actually have made one of the biggest mistakes of your life trying to reach the top :)

There are two entrances that lead you to the way up. We used the one opposite the National Museum, on the main road. To get to the top, you have to buy a ticket which costs you 20 000 Kip. There is this temple by the name of Wat Chomsi. So how high is Mount Phousi actually? It is just 150 metres so that does not really qualify it as a mountain actually but I am still panting, when I remember the moment I had to be there by walking hundreds of steps (with my two other female friends).

Please read about the legend behind this famous Mount Phousi from the signboard found at one spot.

I had similar experience when I was in Krabi and Chiang Mai, Thailand where Buddhist temples are built on top of a hill and have become the attractions to tourists.
