11th FEBRUARY 2023 ~ The original plan was to get dinner at Pendas Laut Floating Restaurant. From Holmes Hotel in Gelang Patah, we used Google Map to get us to the place. Unfortunately, we were brought to somewhere dark and the road seemed to lead us to nowhere - just like in the Twilight Zone. Our car was the only vehicle on the road in the middle of a deserted area, with no clue of the whereabout. We made a U-turn and took the junction we might have missed earlier [put the blame on the navigator apps] and finally arrived at our destination. UNFORTUNATELY, the restaurant was crowded and the tables were all taken, and there was already a long queue forming at the entrance - hopeful diners who had arrived earlier standing on the bridge [im]patiently waiting for their turns. This time we blamed the Singaporeans for coming to this isolated place during a weekend.
It was getting late and we were already [very] hungry. So we just decided to stop by at a restaurant nearby which we had seen before arriving at the first eating place - called Tok Pak.
All's well that ends well. Dinner at Tok Pak was good and tummies were happy. I have again to thank Mr. Ridwan Wahid, a friend of UPM TESL class of 1993, and his wife and daughter, for asking me out for dinner during their [VERY] short stay in Johor Bahru. We would try to go back to the floating restaurant for our other gastronomic adventure some other time in the future, in a bright daylight.
