ATTENDING A SYMPOSIUM AT THE LIGHT HOTEL

   DAY ONE   

   16th AUGUST 2024    ~ This was a last minute plan. I was asked to replace someone to attend a national level symposium at The Light Hotel at Seberang Jaya, Pulau Pinang.

Generally, the symposium was aimed for Pasukan Pelindungan Kanan-kanak [TRANSLATE: Children's Protection Group] organized by Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat [TRANSLATE: Welfare Department] which was attended by people from all the states.

The slot started at 3:00 p.m. and we had no time to get a long rest after travelling all the way from Johor Bahru. We pushed off at 3:00 p.m. the day before in an express bus and arrived in Penang in the wee hour of the morning. There was no place to stay and had to spend most of the time in the bus.

Thanks God, the session on the first day ended at 7:00 p.m. It was a miracle all of us at the table did not doze off even though we did not have enough sleep and rest.

   DAY TWO   

  

   17th AUGUST 2024    ~ On the second day, the session started at 8:30 a.m.

By this time, there were exhibition booths already set up by the NGOs and government departments outside. It was too early though and the staff were still busy preparing their booths.

The whole thing ended much earlier and we had to wait for lunch to be served before getting onto the bus.

One thing that I enjoyed the most was the Boria performance presented by a group of secondary school students. It was something that I watched live for the very first time.

All in all, it was a fruitful trip up north. I made a few new friends and gain new knowledge. I just wonder if I will have the opportunity to attend this kind of thing [and stay in an expensive hotel] again.
