25th JANUARY 2020 ~ Batam Island had surely gone through a lot of changes compared to the first time I was there 9 years ago. We stopped by this spot called Batam Wakepark which was a water amusement park. It was different than what we have in Malaysia as the man made lake was not created in a closed structure. Therefore, we could stop by the roadside just to see what was going on on the water.
There were two sections of the lake. The first one was meant for family-related water activities where both adults and children could enjoy themselves there with the recreational activities.
The other section was for a more extreme activity where one could surf on the water while being pulled by a rope attached to a line around the place, instead of being pulled by the usual speedboat.
I checked the Internet and the place is actually called Cable Ski Park. And after checking Google Maps, I got more confused as it showed the water area was not really a lake but the real ocean.
Nearby there was another amusement park which had something to do with dinosaurs. The roaring dinosaurs could be heard clearly from afar. 😋
This touristy/recreational area is known as Golden City and there are other attractions within the area. Maybe I will come back and check them out some other time.
