MY BATAM GASTRONOMIC ADVENTURE - HAVING DINNER AT A STALL BY THE ROADSIDE


25th JANUARY 2020 ~ For our first dinner on Batam Island, the guide took us to this eating place which was a stall by the roadside. We had rice with fried chicken and fresh vegetables for salad accompanied with the "sambal" [squashed chilies]. For one thing, most of the Indonesian food did not come together with any gravy or soup dishes.








This place seemed to be popular among the locals by looking at the continuous flow of customers coming to eat or take away. Dinner was a decent one but I was happy I could eat like an islander.
