2nd DECEMBER 2022 ~ Finally we, the male staff of SMK Dato' Jaafar, were all on the roads for the trip to the east coast of Johor which was actually planned in about 3 weeks. Originally, there were 12 group members who decided to join in. However, three pulled out at the last minute due to some unforeseen circumstances. The show must still go on though.
8:30 a.m. ~ We all gathered at the first meeting point, a kiosk near AEON Tebrau City. Seven people met up there, a few had their breakfast while two more group members pushed off a bit later as they had to get the marinated barbecue meat from the school canteen operator.
8:50 a.m. ~ Four motorcycles and three cars left Johor Bahru to the next stop: Mersing.
10:30 a.m. ~ Surprisingly, we arrived in Mersing town quite early. Hence, we decided to venture further north to Endau for lunch.
11:00 a.m. ~ Unfortunately, the restaurant we wanted to have lunch at was not opened on Friday. So we decided to cross over the river and were in another state, Pahang.
We simply went into this shop called Wan's Nine Corner which served rice and variety of Malay dishes for lunch. It was the right choice as not only the food was super delicious but also the prices were very reasonable. I got rice + mutton curry + vegetable [tapioca shoots in coconut milk gravy] and it cost me only RM8.00.
12:00 p.m. ~ We had to perform our Friday Prayer after lunch but we still had a little time to see what the small town had to offer.
I had been to this place once many years ago when I took a ferry from Kampung Juara, Tioman Island to Tanjung Gemuk. It seems the place was now called Teluk Gading and the jetty was now known as Tioman Harbour I supposed, from the big letters which indicated the name of the place we found by the main road.
We had covered the distance of approximately 165 kilometres, and most importantly we had crossed the border into another state, which should be an achievement.
