RAMADA MERIDIN REVISITED FOR LUNCH

My gastronomic adventure buddy and I decided to revisit Ramada Meridin Hotel in Kota Iskandar for lunch. This month, Delish Cafe was offering Thai themed set meal for RM29.90 which comprised of the main dish, Tom Yum as soup of the day, free drinks of one's choice [there were 4 types of drinks] and fruits platter for dessert.

We were the only two diners at 2:30 p.m. so we got our food served on the table in no time.

Tom Yum Soup

Thai Green Curry

Sea Food Tom Yum + Satay

Unfortunately, I did not enjoy my Thai Green Curry - perhaps I was not that familiar with the taste. I should have chosen other menu. Still, the set meal was worth the money spent. I will have to wait for another promotional lunch set for next month.

ATTENDING THE THIRD WEDDING RECEPTION OF PUAN MASLINDA'S FAMILY

14th AUGUST 2026    ~ Puan Maslinda Mohd. Dahalan, a friend of UPM TESL Class of 1993, threw the third reception for her third child this time. The event was held at Putra Glass Hall, Kampung Bukit Lanchung in Putra Heights.

The event started at 6:30 p.m. Puan Christina Chan was kind enough to give me a lift from Subang Jaya, together with Puan Lee Swee Ying and Puan Christina's two sons. We were among the early birds who turned up.

As expected, a mini reunion of the UPM TESL clan took place.

Other than trying all the food offered to the guests, we took as many photos as possible.

someone's husband 😀
who has become a TESL family member

I also met other non-TESL friends at the reception. The first one was an ex-classmate/schoolmate of SM Sultan Ismail, Johor Bahru, Mr. Shahrir Yusof.

The second one was Mr. Abdul Razak Sapian, an ex-classmate/schoolmate of SMS Muar. They were both connected to the father of the bride.

This time I got to meet people whom I had never seen since graduation, and hoping to see them again in similar events in the future.

Congratulations to Puan Maslinda on the arrival of the new family member. I not only watched her three children grew up, but also attended all their wedding receptions. And that made me feel old.

This was not the end of the socializing session of the week. There was another reception to be attended in Kuala Lumpur the next two days [READ HERE].

HAVING LUCKIN COFFEE FOR THE FIRST TIME - AND IT WAS IN XI'AN CHINA

5TH SEPTEMBER 2026   ~ When shopping trip did not go well as there was nothing that attracted one's attention, then coffee break it was. My roommate and I decided to stop at Luckin Coffee located in one of the malls. This was significant for as the first Luckin time took place in Xi'an, China.

The outlet was a small one but people many came and go for coffee here. Perhaps Luckin was a popular brand among the locals.

We chose coffee with coconut milk and the taste of coconut milk was prominent. At one time it tasted like our local Cendol and at another time, I could feel the burnt coconut meat. But I liked it.

We found out there were three other group members of the trip in the cafe who chose coffee instead of shopping.

I next mission is to try Luckin coffee in town and then only I could make a comparison.

THE CRIME PREVENTION CAMPAIGN AT SMK PASIR PUTIH

The Crime Prevention Series road show in schools of Pasir Gudang continued today. The programme was organized by Pasukan Kebajikan Kanak-kanak [Children's Welfare Team] of Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat [Welfare Department] Johor Bahru. The school visited today was SMK Pasit Putih.

The talks were held in the afternoon this time, for the afternoon session students. It was a large crowd of 800 students in open hall.

One of the teachers recognized me as she taught in SMK Taman Universiti before moving to this school.

There will be two more schools to be visited for this kind of activity soon.
