16th DECEMBER 2019 ~ There was another temple which had similar resemblance with the previous pagoda we went to, most probably because of its white structures: Kuthodaw Pagoda.
Kuthodaw Pagoda was also known as the world's largest book. The 730 stupas contained 730 marble slabs with inscriptions of Buddhist's teaching were inscribed on both sides, equaled to 1460 pages. Each slab was 1.53 metres tall, 1.07 metres wide and 13 centimetres thick.
Each tablet originally contained writings filled with golden ink and the stones were decorated with precious gems like rubies and diamonds. Sadly, all the precious stones were looted by the British troops when they invaded the temple site.
There were not many people at the time we were there but we had to wait for awhile to make sure there were no one else for us to get photographed between the rows of white stupas. This proved to be the popular spots for photo shoot sessions.
This was another instagrammable site in Mandalay. Try and check any travel blogs or social media, and you could find people striking many different poses possible. Unfortunately, I left my camera in the car when I was at the pagoda and did not even have the urge to get it. It must have been the fatigue, the heat and the hunger.
And this was not yet the last pagoda/temple we went to in Mandalay. 😀
