16th NOVEMBER 2020 ~ This place seems to be popular, mostly for its "Teh Sarbat" - milk tea + ginger. I have been driving past this place my whole life and today finally I set foot to try its famous drinks. The name of the place is: Warung Teh Sarbat Asli Haji Ali [translate: Original Haji Ali Ginger Tea Stall]. The stall was slightly hidden between the buildings and flyover at Jalan Tun Abdul Razak.
My two other colleagues decided to have something light so the "Kaya Toast" should be the best choice. There were still many people sitting in the shop at 4:00 p.m., either for their late lunch or tea.
So how was the "Teh Sarbat"? Real ginger was used for the tea, not the processed ginger powder which is always used by other restaurant. Be ready for its after taste that lingered on your tongue. People say ginger should be good as unwanted gases were released from the body not long after that. Definitely the place to go for the best "Sarbat Tea" in town.
