25TH FEBRUARY 2023 ~ The original plan was to get our lunch at Papar or Kota Kinabalu, but the traffic was bad and it was raining. We came across this restaurant at one spot in Kimanis selling chicken rice with no fancy name: Restoran Nasi Ayam. [TRANSLATE: "nasi" = rice; "ayam" = chicken]
There was other food available, not just chicken rice.
MY REVIEW: The rice came in a huge portion and the chicken part was also big. The soup was tasty and there were two types of sauce you could choose, either soy sauce or chili, or you could take both. The best thing was that you could get ground ginger for your rice, to make it taste Chinese or Hainanese. And most importantly, the price was reasonable.
There was a steel mug of hot water put on the table. I was curious what it was for so I asked the one of the waitresses. You should actually put your cutlery in the hot water before eating, to ensure it would be more hygiene. The water was not for drinking. 😀
Gastronomic adventure still happened without prior planning.
Once the tummies were filled, we were ready to continue with our road trip to our next stop: Kota Kinabalu.
