14th OCTOBER 2023 ~ We stopped by at this one place which I could not remember its name from Dungun to Kuala Lumpur to buy the traditional "kuih" [dessert] called Akok. At this stall, Akok was made in bigger amount using the method inherited from the forefathers. It is popular among the people of Terengganu, or the East Coast perhaps.
The "kuih" was sold like hot cakes, literally speaking. We had to wait for the new batch of Akok to be baked as there was someone else who came earlier than us, bought the "kuih" and left the tray empty.
A lot of firewood and coconut husk were used in the process of preparing the traditional "kuih". The mixture of flour, eggs and sugar was them poured into a brass mould which was then put on the fire to cook.
We finally brought back three containers of Akok to Kuala Lumpur, and I even took one home to Johor Bahru. I am not sure if I would get back to this place again one day.
