MAE KLONG MARKET - THE FAMOUS MARKET ON THE RAILWAY TRACK [PART 2]

20th DECEMBER 2018 ~ If you want to see the real scene of Mae Klong Market, the very first thing you need to do is to check the train schedule. I was about to leave the place but my taxi driver was kind enough to ask me to wait until 11:00 a.m. when the train was reaching the station and the traders would put all the items on sale aside and put the canopy up/down so as to avoid from being hit by the passing train.

The market place was not only limited to the area on the railway track but also expanded to the road side and there was also a proper market building.

I bought strawberries from this stall

looks like our local "apam"

I managed to secure a spot behind a stall while waiting for the train to arrive. The traders were actually having a hard time to get the tourists to move away from the front part of the stall so that they could clear the place and people would not be run over by the train. Some visitors were cheering when the train passed by and it looked like the arrival of a celebrity of some kind.

It was the been-there-done-that kind of experience but it was worth all the effort.
