26th OCTOBER 2019 ~ I was actually surprised to see quite a number of souvenir shops around town which meant tourists were already welcomed to spend before leaving. As our trip to the island was postponed as the weather was not good, we went to this outlet named "Klapa" [translate: Coconut].
It was a huge and modern souvenir shop, offering a wide variety of local Belitung products as well as other Indonesian's souvenirs. You just have to get ready to shop till you drop.
I myself bought the usual small souvenirs as I was not sure whether we would be coming back again or not to this place.
At first, the shop was empty when we stepped foot but when we were about to leave, two busloads (and "vanloads") of Indonesian tourists arrived. Thank God we were there much earlier or else we would have to deal with the crowd and would not have the privacy to shop.
If you are looking for souvenirs from Belitung Island, this shop should be the one to visit.
