THE ROYAL PARK IN FRONT OF THE PALACE

13th AUGUST 2019 ~ There was this park right outside the Royal Palace. I walked by this park every day during my stay in Phnom Penh and it seems it was one of the favourite spots among the locals to sit down on the grass and forget about all the stress at work or at home. Here, every day was a sunny summer day where people laze around with no cares in the world.

There were many pigeons at the park, hundreds of them. The reason they came in a big flock was because people were feeding them. This should be a favourite pastime among the Phnom Penh-ers. You could also buy the food for the birds from people selling it on the street.

Guess life was less complicated for people here.

At the same time, there were also street vendors selling all kinds of things which were mostly food and toys for children.

Not only the park was occupied in the afternoon, it still came alive at night, with people just sitting and enjoying their time there. There was at least for people to go and it was definitely free.
